Low atmosphere turbulence at Dome C preliminary results
We discuss the first two months of low altitude atmospheric turbulence at the Antarctic site of Dome C. Using a mini-SODAR, the first 890m of the atmosphere were sampled. It was found that between 9 Feb and 17 Apr 2003, the turbulence was concentrated below a 120m boundary layer that exhibited a clear diurnal cycle. This boundary layer height is less than half as thick as that at the South Pole...
متن کاملPreliminary Results from the Application
We describe ADJIFOR, an automated adjoint code generator for Fortran, and present preliminary results from the application of ADJIFOR to augment the CFL3D ow solver. Based on these initial results with CFL3D, we argue that, even in its infancy, ADJIFOR can deliver derivatives accurately and eeciently for use in aerodynamic shape optimization problems with 200 to 500 independent design variables.
متن کاملSmithian (early Triassic) Ammonoid Successions of the Tethys: New Preliminary Results from Tibet, India, Pakistan and Oman
Following the end-Permian mass extinction, ammonoids were among the fastest clades to recover (Brayard et al., 2006), with at least two diversification phases during the Early Triassic. Diversification first peaked during the Smithian and was followed by a marked extinction phase at the end of this (sub-)stage. It was then followed by a second and massive evolutionary radiation during the Spath...
متن کاملRadial anisotropy in the crust of SE Tibet and SW China from ambient noise interferometry
[1] We use Rayleigh and Love wave Green’s functions estimated from ambient seismic noise to study crustal structure and radial anisotropy in the tectonically complex and seismically active region west of the Sichuan Basin and around the Eastern Himalaya Syntaxis. In agreement with previous studies, low velocity zones are ubiquitous in the mid‐lower crust, with substantial variations both latera...
متن کاملConstruction of Empirical Green’s Functions from Direct Waves, Coda Waves, and Ambient Noise in Se Tibet
Empirical Green’s functions (EGFs) between receivers can be obtained from seismic interferometry through cross-correlation of pairs of ground motion records. Full reconstruction of the Green’s function requires diffuse wavefields or a uniform distribution of (noise) sources. In practice, EGFs differ from actual Green’s functions because wavefields are not diffuse and the source-distribution not...
